Video/ Dua Lipa speaks in London about the book that marked her life: What Kadare's 'Castle' taught me
Dua Lipa was one of the guests of the "Booker Prize" in London. In front of hundreds of guests, the most famous writers, the accompanying king and queen, Dua Lipa spoke about the book that marked her life.
It is the "Castle" of Kadare. And so "Castle" in Albanian, in the original title referred to Dua.
"When I was 11 years old, my family decided to return to Kosovo. Reading Kadare's book "The Castle" not only helped me with the language, but also helped me connect with my family's origins and the identity of Albania and Kosovo. Through Kadare, I learned about the spirit of resistance of the Albanians, the same one that helped Kosovo to defend its independence today", said Dua Lipa.
"Castle" is one of Kadare's works published in 1970. Albanian resistance to Turkish soldiers is at the center of the work.
