New TikTok theory: Does the nose really change in pregnancy?

More and more women are sharing their pregnancy experiences on TikTok and many of their videos often end up trending. The last one is the "pregnancy nose".

Many women shared photos of their noses "before and after", highlighting how after, that is, the nose during pregnancy, was significantly larger than before. "Pregnancy has really changed me," creator Ashley Hicks writes on TikTok, accompanying a series of photos in which you can see the change in the size of her nose.

But apparently, this phenomenon really has scientific confirmation: the nose swells because during pregnancy hormones, specifically estrogen and progesterone, cause an increase in mucus, thus causing edema of the mucous membranes. Moreover, this often translates into rhinitis of pregnancy, as the inflammation of the mucous membranes can lead to congestion, which sometimes lasts for nine months.

And there are many creators who have shared their experience with the "pregnancy nose", among them TikToker Osato O., who in her "before and after" video writes: "Pregnancy is terrible". "Pregnancy has made my nose three times bigger than before," writes another woman. "But will it go back to the way it was before? I have to make some decisions about my life now," comments another woman.

And the latter is not clear, if it really returns as fixed as it was before.
