The government has started a process to review the property tax. The Minister of Finance, Delina Ibrahimaj said that it is intended to increase the collection of this tax and therefore it has been decided that the calculation will be based on the market price.
In the first 5 months of the year, according to the ministry, 2.7 billion ALL were collected from the property tax. Currently, Albanians pay 0.05% of the value of the apartment, calculated based on the areas.
"The main change it will bring is the assessment of property assets with the market value, with the market price, and this is an essential change which needs a very big commitment, not only in the framework of the drafting of the law but also of taking institutional measures for its best implementation."
