KE advice to citizens on energy saving: Let's reduce the heating at home by

Saving electricity this winter is returning to the main mission of many European countries, which are suffering, or are expected to suffer even more in the coming months, from the crisis and prices that are only increasing.

Recently, the president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, has posted the measures taken by several countries which she says should be applied by every European country this cold winter that awaits us.

"Smart ways to save energy are being introduced across the EU. Slightly higher temperatures for the conditioner can bring impressive results. Some member states are including such measures in their plans. Let's save energy together for a safe winter," says Ursula von der Leyen.

According to her, if every family lowers the heating temperature by 1 degree, the savings would be significant.

"Decreasing the heating temperature at home by just 1°C can save about 7% in energy use over a year. I am encouraged to see that some member states are introducing measures to optimize heating. This will help us reach our common objective of 15%, together," says the president of the European Commission.

Ursula von der Leyen says that the EU Commission itself is also saving energy, according to the Green Strategy. “We are turning off heating and cooling in most buildings 1 hour earlier than before, saving 3% of our annual energy use. We're also closing some buildings for the summer and facilitating remote work," she tweeted.
