The Government of Jamaica has announced that it has taken a decision to recognize the state of Palestine due to concerns about the conflict in the Gaza Strip and the humanitarian crisis in the Palestinian enclave.
"This decision is consistent with Jamaica's strong commitment to the principles of the United Nations Charter, which seek to encourage mutual respect and peaceful coexistence among states, as well as the recognition of people's right to self-determination," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
