Veliaj thanked NDI (National Democratic Institute) and IRI (International Republican Institute), two American organizations, for the extraordinary investment they are making in young people, which are not only the future of Europe, but are also the present.

"In all Central and Eastern European countries there are active young people who want to be affirmed and want to occupy a place in decision-making and this is extraordinary news," said Veliaj.

The mayor further added: “It is an extraordinary pleasure that Tirana, which in a few days will be the European Capital of Youth, today was the meeting place of all these activists. Our ambition and that of our organizations is to turn Tirana into a platform where young people from all over Europe have the opportunity to form partnerships, create youth movements, start start-ups or become more active in politics, in municipal councils. , in parliaments and in government. I believe that the fable of Tirana and Albania is ideal for this ".

The representative of the NDI organization, Ana Kavacevic said that she can not wait for the cooperation to continue in 2022, when Tirana will be the "European Capital of Youth". "We are happy to welcome more than 15 young people from 23 different countries from Tirana, Tallinn, Budapest, Prague to meet here and to continue the wonderful work they are doing in their countries as civic leaders. and politics in raising their voices about their hopes or concerns to change societies and communities for the better.
