Serbs block the roads in the north of Kosovo, the elections are postponed to April 2023
Tensions continue in the North of Kosovo. In Rudare, near Zveçan, the local Serbs have gathered and are protesting, REL reports. Masked men have also been seen there.
Four trucks and eight ambulances have been deployed to block the road.
The protest comes after the arrest of the former Serbian policeman, Dejan Pantic.
The head of the Office for Kosovo in Belgrade, Petar Petkovic, has stated that Dejan Pantiq, a former member of the Kosovo Police, was arrested in Jarinje today.
The reason for the arrest is not yet known.
The President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, has announced that the elections in the north have been postponed to April 2023. Osmani made this statement after a meeting with political parties.
"In order to ensure the greatest possible participation of citizens in these elections, observation by local and international institutions, security for all citizens without distinction, as well as sufficient time for security institutions to make efforts and take actions additional for order and law in the north of the country, I appreciate that the postponement is necessary", she told a press conference after the meeting.
