Three 9-year-old children and three adults were killed Monday in a shooting at Covenant School, a private Christian elementary school in Nashville, Tennessee, police said.
Two of the victims were school employees. One was the head of the school and the other the caretaker.
The gunman, a 28-year-old former student at the school, was killed in the shootout, authorities said.
The attacker had drawn detailed maps of the school, police said, including entry points to the building. The police have the author's notes in hand and are examining them.
The 3 children killed have been identified as Evelyn Dieckhaus, Hallie Scruggs and William Kinney. All from 9 years old.
The three adults are Cynthia Peak '61, Katherine Koonce '60 and Mike Hill '61.
