Twenty people who were on board a Singapore Airline flight that was hit by turbulence are still in intensive care.

"The number of patients in the ICU remains the same," Adinun Kittiratanapaibool, director of Samitivej Srinakarin Hospital in Bangkok, told reporters on Thursday.

Of the 40 people being treated, 22 patients have spinal cord injuries and six have brain and skull injuries.

The oldest patient at the hospital is 83 years old and the youngest, a two-year-old child who suffered a shock, he added.
