The scandal of the Minister of Culture in Italy, the extramarital affair, trips

The extramarital relationship of the Italian Minister of Culture, Gennaro Sangiuliano, has become the main topic of the media in Italy.

A woman named Maria Rosaria Boccia has made some documents public and claims to have been an advisor to the ministry. She says her business trips are covered by the ministry. She further adds that as the minister's girlfriend, she also went to concerts that she enjoyed, but that were also paid for by the Ministry.

On the other hand, the minister does not accept that Maria was employed by the Ministry. He admits that they have a relationship together, that she accompanied him on business trips, but covered the expenses herself.

Where is the scandal and how was it discovered?

The story was revealed by private conversations that Maria herself recorded. The media say that she used to record every communication she made, even the private ones with the minister. But today she says that there are some people who are blackmailing the minister for the benefits she received from him.

"I heard concrete conversations from people who, in my opinion, blackmailed the minister. I can say that there are editors of weekly magazines who have done this", said Boçia.

"That's why I recorded everything," she adds.

The truth is more than that – the wounded female ego

In another interview, Maria explained why from the end of July onwards she decided to record every communication with the minister as well.

"He told me a phrase that hurt me a lot: 'I am a minister, I am a man, I represent the institution and in the future no one will believe what you say'."

Disagreement with Melon as well

Maria considers the prime minister's attitudes towards her "sexist", when Meloni defined her as "another person" on television.

Where does the issue currently stand?

The minister appeared on television yesterday where he denied having hired and paid for Maria's trips from the state budget.

Today he will meet a group of lawyers. It is thought that he may also file a lawsuit against this public scandal that damages his image.

The possibility of resigning also exists.
