Zelensky at NATO summit: Ukraine needs $ 5 billion a month for defense
President Volodymyr Zelensky told NATO leaders on Wednesday that Ukraine needs modern weapons and more financial assistance in its fight against Russian occupation.
"We have to break the advantage of Russian artillery… We need much more modern systems, modern artillery," Zelensky said at a NATO summit in Madrid via video link.
He added that financial support was no less important than arms assistance.
"Russia still takes billions every day and spends them on war. "We have a multi-billion dollar deficit, we do not have oil and gas to cover it," Zelensky said, adding that Ukraine needs about $ 5 billion a month to defend itself.
He also called for sanctions against Russia to halt its ability to pay for the war.
