5 trends you need to know just before London Fashion Week kicks off
London Fashion Week is back. Designers will present their spring/summer 2025 collections.
This year's event promises an exciting mix of vibrant colors, creative patterns and eye-catching accessories.
Below are the top 5 trends to watch out for.
1. Bold colors
Gone are the days of neutral tones and minimalist palettes. This year it's all about being bold. Adam Laës, fashion expert and founder of Baked Clay London, predicts that blue will be the 'IT colour'. The blue color in the bathroom will automatically increase the use of denim more.
2. Maximalist models
Flowers, wrinkles, sides, fruits... so there is no more minimalist style.
Designer Sanyukta Shrestha says there will be plenty of 'complex yet spontaneous patterns, and unconventional color pairings' that are sure to grab our attention.
Expect a variety of pieces, prints and shapes that evoke the creativity and playfulness that London Fashion Week is known for.
Abstract and Surrealist-inspired prints, geometric shapes and hand-drawn illustrations will dominate. Designers are taking inspiration from both modern art and classical motifs, mixing these into clothes that are visually appealing.
3. The real outfit will be the accessory
Not only is an outfit never complete without the right shoes, jewelry and bag, but sometimes the accessory is the outfit itself.
This year we're in luck as fashion finally meets practicality with a range of large bags that do the job, but also look fashionable.
Other accessories will have a narrative bent, meaning they will tell a story. For example, grandmother's ring, mother's pendant, father's watch...
As for precious stones, they will be those with bright colors such as: ruby, emerald and sapphire. Of course in asymmetrical forms.
4. Nostalgic wave
Zandra Rhodes has created a collection that embraces '70s fashion.
Fashion from decades past is always an inspiration for designers, and this year's fashion week is no exception, as we're likely to be in for a nostalgic rollercoaster over the next few days.
5. Reused clothes
Sustainability is trending and this year recycled clothing takes center stage.
Once again, Oxfam will open London Fashion Week with Style for Change, which will showcase a collection made from recycled fabrics and materials.
