If you happen to pass by the "Skënderbej" square, on these hot August days, you can approach the Care Tent that the Municipality of Tirana has set up for several weeks, to help the citizens. Mayor Erion Veliaj stopped at this station for an appeal to citizens to avoid moving, especially during peak hours. He said that for those who need to go out, there are several points where they can stop to drink water and measure the voltage.
"It's 40 degrees outside this tent. The invitation to all citizens, especially those of the third age, is not to leave the house unless they have something urgent. For those who need to go out, we have opened several spots, - this is the main one in "Skenderbej" square, - to cool off a little, to measure the tension, to relax in the shade, before continue on their way. The call is: stay hydrated, avoid unnecessary outings, and keep an eye out for your loved ones. I wish we would all show a little care for each other. A good city is one that functions as a family", stated Veliaj.
He emphasized that the care tent is also intended for pets. He called on citizens not to abandon their animals on the streets.
"I'm glad that we also thought about the four dogs. We also have a call for citizens who go on vacation: Please do not abandon the animals! August is the most difficult month for veterinary services because there are many people who, in order to appear in the picture, say that they have the animal as the man of the house, but you don't leave the man of the house at home in August, when he goes on vacation, you take him with you. Don't leave it on the street. It is not fair to buy pets that we treat as toys when they are living beings. Firstly, it is illegal and criminal, secondly, it is inhumane", stressed the mayor.
