The "Martyrs of February 4" street is back in Tirana
Today marks the 79th anniversary of the "February 4" massacre in Tirana. In commemoration and honoring the victims of this massacre, the Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, received in his office the heads of the National Veterans' organizations and family members of the martyrs of "February 4", for the naming of the road segment from the Bank of Albania to the river of Lana, named "Martyrs of February 4".
"We decided to restore dignity to the country, undo an injustice with the names in Tirana. I understand that different systems, different regimes, different governments, different parties have their own opinions. But, I think that some things are already rooted in our history, such as the role of Skenderbeu, the role of the Rilindas, the role of the Anti-Fascist Movement, and it is a fact that Tirana was liberated with its own forces. It is a fact that Tirana had 86 victims, who are known as the "Martyrs of February 4". It is a fact that the road has always been there, so the restoration of the name for the segment from the Bank of Albania to the Lana River, as a road parallel to the "Dë?morët e Kombit" Boulevard, restores this injustice done to the families, to the martyrs and to those who believe to the cause of anti-fascism", said Veliaj.
Gjergj Velo, head of the National Organization for the Martyrs of LANÇ and other Martyrs of the Motherland, said: "An issue that was not only wrong, but also a distortion and an assessment not at the right time and not in the right place was brought back to the country. the right height. You corrected it. Well done!"
