Development strategy of Tirana, Veliaj: My biggest pride is the new schools,

The development strategy of Tirana in the next 5 years was presented today in the Olympic Park of Tirana. With the participation of Prime Minister Edi Rama, Mayor Veliaj and some of the leaders of the main sectors of the Municipality of Tirana, they stopped at some of the most important areas where investment has been made and where work will be focused in the new strategic development plan of the capital.

"My greatest pride," said Veliaj, "are the new schools, kindergartens and nurseries that we have built in Tirana. These are investments that will remain with the city for the next 100 years. But I am also proud of the fact that we have invested in knowledge, as the only asset that no one can take from us."

In Tirana, he said, more than 40 schools have been built, while several new schools are expected to open in September.

Some of the main interventions in the educational and innovation infrastructure:

Education:

- 40 new schools and 36 others reconstructed;
- 20 new kindergartens and 34 others reconstructed;
- 9 new and 22 reconstructed nurseries;
- 4 reconstructed libraries;
- 25 schools in Tirana have turned into open spaces for the community;
- Built 13 new dormitory buildings;
- 16 existing dormitories have been rehabilitated;
- Student card with over 2,200 services, free subscription and 50% of the cost of the dormitory.

INNOVATION

- The pyramid, which opens its doors this spring, will be the largest center of innovation and digitization technology. There will be the new home of TUMO, which has already registered 2,200 students, 670 of whom have completed the first and second level of knowledge.
- Coding Academy where the municipality has given at least 1,500 scholarships to children of needy families;
- New schools with digital laboratories, (coding classes from the first grade);
- 8 revitalized city libraries, today serve as Community and Technology Centers;
- Virtual museum for children (Mikrofolia)
- Creative Industry Agency since 2022, has developed 21 activities with about 13,000 participants.
