Veliaj: Over 30 thousand pensioners have received free season tickets. We will soon issue a pensioner card, just like a student card

During his speech at the next meeting of the Municipal Council, speaking about the new social scheme to provide free passes to all grandparents in Tirana, Mayor Erion Veliaj said that so far, around 30 thousand pensioners have benefited from free passes.
Veiaj gave the good news that pensioners will soon be provided with a Pensioner Card, similar to a student card, which offers many other services in the city, at reduced prices.
"The story of the pensioner's pass attracted extraordinary interest. After I had my first consultation with representatives of pensioner associations, from all units, one of the proposals was: Why don't we make a pensioner card, just like we have a student card? The student not only receives the pass and half of the dormitory, but also discounts on prices in many shops, minimarkets, supermarkets, hardware stores, etc. I believe that for our grandparents, every saving in any service or in any expense is something useful," said Veliaj.
He appealed to pensioners not to create queues, as there are tickets for everyone.
"If you go now, the ticket kiosk is empty. There is no need for everyone to go at 07.00 in the morning. We need a little more awareness, as long as it is open all day. We have tickets for everyone, there is no limit. In the first month alone, we are over 30 thousand. We will continue to look at the quotas and we will be ready to respond with the pensioner card. I believe this is great news for our grandparents," said Veliaj.
