Video, Turkey sends 500 commando troops to the north of Kosovo

Turkey responded to NATO's call, sending 500 troops of a commando battalion to northern Kosovo.

The Turkish Ministry of Defense has published today the images of the commando forces that will be deployed in Kosovo, as reinforcement for the NATO mission, KFOR.

The Turkish authorities said that after the recent events in the north, the battalion of the 65th Mechanized Infantry Brigade has headed towards Kosovo.

Since May 29, the local Serbs of the northern municipalities of Zveçan, Leposaviq and Zubin Potok have been protesting to oppose the entry of the new Albanian mayors into the municipal buildings.

The situation has escalated in Zveçan, after the clash between Serbian protesters and KFOR members. As a result, 30 members of the peacekeeping force and 52 Serbs were injured.
