Acute hepatitis in children / Silva Bino shows symptoms: No case in Albania!

Hepatitis - a disease that is affecting children worldwide - has 191 confirmed cases worldwide so far. The Chief of Epidemiology at the IPH, Silva Bino, has confirmed that the mysterious disease has not yet been reported in the country.

"We monitor jaundice, because hepatitis appears with jaundice and we also monitor the reports of doctors, of both types we have no data that we may have cases of acute hepatitis," said Bino.

Hepatitis can start with muscle aches, fatigue, fever and diarrhea. When these signs last for more than two days, it is recommended that the children be sent to a family doctor, and then blood tests be performed.

Most patients in the world have recovered, but some others have undergone liver transplantation.

The WHO stated that at least one death had been reported, without giving further details.

The UN health agency said the cases were reported in children aged one month to 16 years.
