If you are a woman and you want a raise, you should look for it by walking in

If you are a woman who has experienced difficulties in negotiations in the workplace, here you will find some interesting details. First, you are not alone.

In addition to statistics suggesting that 20% of women do not negotiate at all, it also seems that the results for them are even worse de facto.

"Women who asked for a raise got a raise 15% of the time, while men got a raise 20% of the time," says the Harvard Business Review.

According to Stanford: "Negotiating is a consequential activity that can exacerbate power differentials, especially for women."

Neale adds that the social nature of walking together can help women achieve more equal outcomes – “walking created a more collaborative environment, as walking together is a synchronous activity,” she says.

"The psychological impact of walking on women was probably the most important result," adds Neale.

"Women tend to have more negative feelings about negotiation than men," she says. “Our current study showed that men felt more positive in both negotiation conditions.

She also raises the question of whether "walking speed... can affect negotiation," and suggests that future studies explore this further.
