The 2030 World Cup will be held on three continents

The 2030 World Cup will be different from all previous ones. Taking advantage of the 100th anniversary of the tournament (which started in 1930, in Uruguay), the first three matches will be played in South America (Uruguay, Argentina and Paraguay) and the rest will be split between the three countries that threw joint candidacy for the World Cup: Portugal, Spain and Morocco.

In a statement published on the FIFA website, president Gianni Infantino declared: "The first of these three matches will certainly be played in the stadium where it all began. In the legendary "Centenário" stadium, precisely to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the World Cup."

The 2030 World Cup, like the 2026 World Cup, will be played with 48 teams and have 104 matches.
