Why did Messi lift the cup wearing the Arab tail?

Those who watched the World Cup final and the post-game ceremony did not miss the detail of the tail.

After the match, Messi shook hands with FIFA president Gianni Infantino and Sheikh Tamim, who adorned him with a black robe, known as a tail.

But what is the significance of the cloak? The tail is a traditional part of men's clothing, known in the Arab World and worn during celebrations, i.e. on happy occasions.

Sheikh Tamim himself explained the reason why he wore Messi's cloak on Twitter.

"We found an opportunity for the peoples of the world to learn about the richness of our culture and the originality of our values," he wrote.

Although confused, Messi agreed to wear it. Not everyone in the network welcomed this fact. Some have seen it as an obligation. Others, of course, took it more sportingly.

"A journalist writes: Qatar made sure this was their moment, as much as Messi's."
