Why Christmas is celebrated for 4 months in the Philippines
In the centuries-old song "The 12 Days of Christmas," the celebrations last less than two weeks.

Today Christmas is regularly celebrated throughout December, and in some countries, throughout a good part of November as well.

But four months of festivities in the Philippines give new meaning to the term “holiday season.” Filipinos love an excuse to celebrate, and Christmas is the biggest and longest holiday of all. In the Philippines, they start celebrating three months early, giving them the longest Christmas season in the world!

Christmas is celebrated during the months of “ber,” as it is called in the Philippines – that is, September, October, November, and December.

Christmas is known as Pasko in the Philippines. Many of its traditions, such as the Christmas tree or Santa Claus, came to the country from North America.

Although Christmas usually means snow and cold weather, the Philippines is on the equator, which means it never snows, there is no winter season, and it gets slightly cooler as the months go by.
