What is plasma treatment and what are the benefits?

One of the most common treatments used in aesthetic medicine, with multiple indications that basically have skin regeneration, is the treatment with plasma injections (PRP), described on social networks as "vampire lift".

Platelet-enriched plasma is prepared by concentrating autologous blood platelets (individual blood) into plasma. It is used for dermo-aesthetic procedures in order to rejuvenate and slow down the aging process as a result of platelet release of factors with regenerative properties. PRP has been used for 3 decades in a wide range of mini-invasive and surgical medical treatments. In the field of dermatological diseases it is used to treat cutaneous ulcers, post-surgical scars, post-acne scars, and alopecia (hair loss).

For about 1 decade it has been used successfully in dermoaesthetics as a rejuvenating procedure for the skin of the face, neck, décolleté of the hands - areas that are the most visible and most exposed to photoaging, but can also be applied to other cutaneous areas. PRP, when injected into the scalp, slows down the process of hair loss and stimulates the emergence of new hair. It can be combined with other dermo-aesthetic treatments that can be performed in the same session or at a distance from each other (mesotherapy, filler, botox, laser, etc.)

The procedure is performed in several stages, starting with taking the blood from the individual to be treated in an amount of 10-50 ml (depending on the surface of the treatment) and placing it immediately in the centrifuge where it is processed for about 5-8 minutes . At the end of this process the plasma is separated from the red blood cells and injected into the dermis through various techniques (depending on the indication) thus improving its thickness and elasticity. During the plasma processing, anesthetic cream (numbing) is applied on the skin where it will be injected in order to minimize the pain during the injection. After the procedure, the skin appears red, with or without tanning, as well as swollen, or simply fuller and with volumes that almost all clients like and would like to last forever. While enjoying these temporary plasma effects, stimulation of new collagen production begins around the third week after treatment and the skin looks fresher, more toned and more vital. After treatment, for at least 5 hours, it is recommended not to wash the skin, not to be directly exposed to heat and to avoid processes that cause sweating such as sun exposure, sauna, hot baths, strenuous physical activity, etc. Also avoid using make up for a few hours after treatment, as well as using exfoliating and exfoliating products for a few days as recommended by your doctor. Recent scientific studies have proven that a number of factors such as the physician's knowledge of the mechanism of action, the classification of PRP, injection techniques and criteria to be met to increase platelet quality increase the effectiveness of PRP treatment. Likewise, the doctor's knowledge about a number of concomitant pathologies in which this treatment is not recommended to be performed (contraindicated) is very important to perform a dermoaesthetic treatment as field plasma of a healthy organism.
