Above all, this is the element your face needs to shine
In the previous post I talked about the importance of adding serum to your skin care routine. Serum is a dermatological formulation that contains high concentrations of active substance molecules with different functions, which penetrate deep into the skin compared to other formulas such as lotion and cream. Vitamin C is one of the most effective substances for the skin, as it is important for the whole organism in increasing immunity. Therefore, the range of serums with vitamin C content is wide. For a wide range of benefits, you can add to your routine serum with single vitamin C ingredients (10% -20% concentration in the form of ascorbic L-acid, or in the form of magnesium ascorbyl phosphate, etc.) or in combination with other antioxidants such as vitamin E, ferrulic acid, with antinuclear complexes, hyaluronic acid, etc.
Vitamin C in the skin has a powerful antioxidant role. So it reduces skin damage from free radicals that are created on the skin by pest agents (environmental pollutants, various chemicals, dirt and ultraviolet radiation). By reducing free radicals, the inflammation they can cause on the skin is reduced, thus helping to care for acne prone skin. Vitamin C also increases the elimination of dead cells on the surface of the skin by helping to form fewer blackheads as well as increasing the radiance and vitality of the skin.
This vitamin also helps reduce light wrinkles as it stimulates collagen production and protects against photopolysis (skin aging from sun exposure and the action of UV rays).
As a result of reduced melanin production, vitamin C is found in serum formulations to treat hyperpigmentation (blemishes) and homogenize skin color.
In Albania you can find in the pharmacy various brands of serums with vitamin C content combined or not and with other microprocessors, such as Lierac mesolift, Teoxane RHA x VCIP, Soha Sardinia lemon peel, Rilastil D-clar, RVB lab hyalu C etc. .
But before you add it to the routine you need to get some information about this product;
- Vitamin C-containing serum is packaged in dark or opaque bottles (colored) or in monodose microcapsules and never in transparent bottles, because vitamin C is sensitive to light by oxidizing and becoming ineffective or irritating to the skin. The product may darken slightly after opening, but if it smells bad and changes consistency from viscous liquid you should no longer use it. The product after opening has a shelf life ranging from 6-12 months, but it is recommended to use it regularly every day until its completion (not to open it, use it several times and remember to reuse it after a few months.
-If you use it for the first time, test it 24 hours in advance on the skin of the forearm (as you should actually do for any dermocosmetic product). If you feel burning and itching that is increasing or even worse redness on a wide area and edema (swelling), rinse with water and do not apply on the face! If it does not give such a reaction in the forearm, you can apply it on the face the next day.
-In the morning, the use begins with cleansing the face with detergent or milk and tonic, applying serum and then moisturizing and sunscreen. The fact that vitamin C protects against UV radiation does not mean that you should not apply sunscreen afterwards. On the contrary, both together, serum with vitamin C and cream with spf, make the protection of the skin from ultraviolet radiation more complete.
-Serum with vitamin C can be used 1-2 times a day, but if you have in your dinner routine an antiage cream with retinol content, you should not apply this serum and immediately after the cream as these products act on different pH ( year C pH 3-3.5 or lower), retinol 4.5-5.5) and not only reduce each other's effectiveness but can also irritate the skin (are both substances that can irritate.) If you want to use it at dinner as well , after applying this serum you should wait at least 1.5 hours before applying the cream with retinol, or just use the serum with vitamin C in the morning and continue the dinner routine as before.
-Usually vitamin C serum can be used by any skin type, regardless of whether it is an acidic substance. But care should be taken by people with hypersensitive skin or rosacea, who either should not use it or should find such formulations of vitamin C with vitamin E, glycerin, hyaluronic acid, etc., indicated precisely for hypersensitive skin.
-Effects of using vitamin C serum, with radiant skin, vitality and homogenization of skin color, are seen after regular use for a period of at least 4 weeks.
