Apple will now allow you to purchase parts and customize your iPhone yourself
Apple opened its online store Self Service Repair on Wednesday after the "right to repair" movement put pressure on US regulators to give consumers more control over their products.
The new software will offer more than 200 parts and tools that customers can use to repair their third-generation iPhone 12, iPhone 13 and iPhone SE. Consumers will be able to adjust parts such as the screen, battery and camera, according to Apple.
It initially launches in the US, but will expand to other countries, starting in Europe, later this year.
Customers can rent parts for a week for $ 49 with free shipping if they prefer not to buy them in full. In some cases, customers may also receive a loan to return a replacement part for recycling.
