How Barron Trump could 'save' TikTok in the US

President-elect Donald Trump said Monday that TikTok has a "warm place" in his heart when asked about a possible ban on the social media platform.

He thanked his son, Barron Trump, 18, for introducing him to the platform, as he said TikTok helped him gain support among young people during the 2024 elections.

“TikTok had an impact, so we’re looking at it,” Trump said of the app, which is used by an estimated 170 million Americans. “I have a warm place in my heart. I’m speaking frankly.”

Congress passed and President Joe Biden signed a bill this year that requires TikTok's Beijing-based parent company, ByteDance, to sell the app. If they don't, it will be banned in the US.
