Telegram changes policies! It will submit to the authorities the data of users

Messaging app Telegram has said it will hand over the IP addresses and phone numbers of users with a criminal record to authorities.

The privacy policy change comes after Telegram was previously used by people violating its terms of use to sell illegal goods.

"99% of Telegram users have nothing to do with crime, 0.1% involved in illegal activities create a bad image for the entire platform, putting the interests of our almost billion users at risk," said founder Pavel Durov .

Durov was arrested by French authorities last month at an airport north of Paris.

Critics say Telegram has become a hotbed of disinformation, child pornography and terror-related content, in part because of a feature that allows groups to have up to 200,000 members.
