Vodafone and Google recently announced a ten-year strategic expansion of their partnership to bring new services, devices and TV experiences to millions of Vodafone customers across Europe and Africa, powered by advanced Cloud (Gen AI) and Google's Gemini models.

This agreement will increase the capacity to store materials, security and assistance in the use of Artificial Intelligence for Vodafone customers in 15 countries, as well as its partners in 45 markets, while Google will use Vodafone's fixed and mobile services to improve productivity of the workforce.

Margherita Della Valle, CEO of Vodafone Group, said: “Vodafone and Google will provide devices and content generated by AI to millions of customers around the world. Thanks to these services, customers can find new ways to learn, create, communicate and watch TV programs on a scale like never before."

For his part, CEO of Google and Alphabet, Sundar Pichai, added that: “The expanded partnership with Vodafone will provide access to more people across Europe and Africa to Google's most advanced AI products and services, including Gemini models. I am delighted that Vodafone customers, small businesses and governments will use Artificial Intelligence and Google Cloud to transform the way they work and access information.”

The focus of Vodafone's partnership with Google is also consumer access to the latest hardware and digital technologies, including AI and cloud-based applications. Vodafone and Google will work together to simultaneously improve and expand the range of products and services available in stores and online, which is based on a new customer experience rooted in the benefits of AI.

The partnership also aims to provide business customers with greater cyber protection through a state-of-the-art cybersecurity approach that will soon be developed using the Google Cloud Security Operations platform. The platform will provide support in security incidents and case management. Vodafone will also use the platform in the development of various products and services, which guarantee more security for online customers.

Both companies also aim to promote universal industry standards in areas such as cybersecurity, responsible use of AI, network performance and interoperability to drive large economies to industrial efficiency, increase the use of innovation and improve public services. Through this partnership, Vodafone also wants to give more people access to the Cloud, content and connectivity that relies on AI.
